Re-sheet and re-tile

Another bungalow re-tile job but this time it included sheeting the roof with plyboard to provide a good foundation to allow a waterproof membrane felt to be fitted prior to the tiles. The plyboard also has as aesthetic role when viewed from within the loft space.

The old tiles, ridge and felt were stripped from the roof first and the plyboard sheeting fitted onto the joists. Waterproof breather felt (coloured blue in the pictures) was stapled down on top of the plyboard.

Counter battons and tile battons were then nailed down on top of the membrane in preparation for tiling the roof.

New tiles were fitted and the ridge was replaced with a dry ridge system which requires no ongoing maintenance as there is no cement pointing required.
