Flat Roofing

Some people often prefer to go for a flat roof instead. These can be advantageous in many ways as they can serve as a roof terrace or garden. Not keen on the idea? How about installing solar panels instead to reduce your electricity bills? Flat roofs are also very low maintenance and cheaper than other roofing methods. Flat roofs are sometimes known to deteriorate as the years pass, so it is paramount that you keep your roofing secure and watertight to make sure your home or property remains dry throughout the year.

Chimney Repairs

As chimneys are constantly exposed to the elements, these can gradually deteriorate over the years. This can weaken the general structure, compromising it's overall safety and hence putting people at risk (including your own family)! As Deans Roofing are experts when working at height, they are able to confidently repair any damage to chimneys, thus eliminating potential problems as early as possible and avoiding unneccessary, costly repairs in the future.

We specialise predominantly in class 1 brick chimneys (standard chimneys built in houses before 1960), however we are able to deal with all chimney types. If you need a new fireplace or are thinking of having one replaced, get in touch with us and we will inspect your chimney to ensure it is fault free and suitable for fires. If you are even worried about wildlife (a bird's next for example) living on or in your chimney - no problem, we can help with that too.

If you have any concerns about your chimney, we would be more than happy able to conduct a full inspection to put your mind at ease. Please get in touch on 01273 525395.

Guttering, Soffits and Fascias

Gutters, fascias and soffits are a very integral part of your roof. They are attached directly to the roof and act as a support to the guttering system. This in turn protects your property from damage. When they are blocked up, the guttering system may experience some irreversible damage which can affect the roof structure as well.

At Deans Roofing, we offer some of the most efficient gutter cleaning in Brighton. You will find that all debris including moss, leaves, twigs etc are completely removed from the gutters, leaving them looking as good as new. This will also prevent any rotting or future leaks from causing damage to your property.

We take pride in our roofs and only use good quality materials from trusted suppliers to leave you with a very durable roof that looks good too!

Roofing Repairs

Do you have a few damaged or missing tiles that need to be replaced quickly before the rain comes? Deans Roofing to the rescue! From a psychological point of view, a surprising number of people have a fear of contacting roofers for such a small job with the fear of being rejected or criticized for wasting their time. Not with us though: Give us a call in the morning and we could even replace the tiles on the same day - job done! This is of course weather dependant in which case it would be attended to the next available working day.

Velux Windows

Velux windows are an excellent addition that you can add to your home. They bring in ventilation and light into a roof space or loft. These are very important when considering loft conversions as they not only provide an opening for air and light, but can also add value to your property.

This type of window actually originates from the Danish manufacturing company ‘Velux’, a specialist company dealing with skylights and roof windows. Not only are these windows incredibly strong and weather resistant but also don’t rattle around on windy days like many other types of window.

If you already have Velux windows installed in your home that need some maintenance, no problem – get in touch with us and we’ll soon make sure they’re working in perfect order again.

Lead Roofing

Lead is a less commonly used roof material these days, however it does have numerous advantages. Many homes in Sussex have lead roofs which gives them some of the nation's finest architecture. Lead roofing and sand cast lead are particularly used for churches and other old/historical buildings. The more modern day buildings use an alternative known as milled lead, which is mass produced. The former is more traditional than modern day alternatives. It is also cheaper and can last for many decades. For this reason, we use good quality lead that is reclaimable and can be recycled many times over.

A typical lead roof can last as much as 3 times longer than most other roofing materials. This could even be extended by using lead flashing - a thin, waterproof layer of material which securely protects roofs from water and makes sure that it doesn't seep in through any gaps or crevices.

Since lead can be re-shaped into whatever form be required, it is also easy to work with than many other materials and looks good on your roof too!

Another good advantage of lead is that it is extremely resilient. It can contract and expand in different temperatures. So whether it is a hot day in Summer or a cold day in Winter, the lead will be able to adapt as necessary.

Felt Roofs

Felt roofs technically come under the flat roofing category, however this deserves a page of its own. It is a popular roofing material commonly used on garage roofs and sheds. You may have seen this type of roof being fitted with bitumen oil - this is a time consuming process and is now done with a blow torch for convenience.

Felt is a very light material, meaning it can easily be fitted onto smaller structures without difficulty. It is also reasonably low cost - much cheaper than asphalt, fibreglass and PVC, making it ideal for homeowners.

A slight disadvantage is that it has a fairly short lifetime (about 10 years or so) as it is not the most weather resistant of all roofing materials. This does lead to an advantage though as any damaged areas can be replaced (or torched over) very quickly. Also, being so flexible, it can be cut or joined to fit any shape or size as needed.
